Winchester Motor Group
Winchester Motor Group are a leading representative of ŠKODA in Hampshire and beyond. As a family-run business, they deliver customer satisfaction through excellent service and the stunning ŠKODA model range is a core part of their business.
The Problem
Being part of the Skoda family, Winchester Motor Group must calculate their Scope 1 and 2 emissions and report to head office. This exercise is performed in-house, however, Mark Goodlet-Mills, Group MD, wanted to have an independent assessment to check internal calculations and look for opportunities to reduce the carbon emissions generated from the operation.
Solution and Outcome
CO2e emissions from electricity, gas, AC refrigerant loss, waste, water and business mileage were calculated, giving a carbon footprint of 77.9 tonnes CO2e pa, and a carbon intensity of 3.7 tonnes CO2e per employee. This figure is relatively low given the size of the operation, however, there were areas already being looked at to reduce the carbon emissions. Solar or PV arrays were being scoped out, but planning and infrastructure were causing barriers. Winchester Motor Group are on a zero carbon electricity tariff, which already mitigates nearly 10 tonnes of CO2e.
