The Problem

Although the Village Hall was at the heart of the community’s activities, the organisation realised that when it came to going carbon neutral, they did not have the knowledge or human resources to tackle a project on their own. With Beyond Procurements’ assistance, they could assess their carbon footprint and implement strategies to reduce their emissions.

Along the way, it was also determined that due to the ageing of the building, the carbon emissions would be greatest in their outdated electric heating system. The organisation has since been pointed to suppliers and the LoCASE Grant to attempt to update this system and therefore reduce their carbon footprint for years to come.

Solution and Outcome

Beyond Procurement provided a complete analysis of West Meon Village Hall’s Scope 1 and 2 emissions. Their carbon footprint was exceptionally low (<5 tonnes of CO2), with most of their carbon emitted from their building energy.

By switching to a renewable tariff, the company could automatically cut their emissions by over 99%! As trailblazers for their community, they can now broadcast that they are well on their way towards carbon neutrality while spreading awareness about their community investment.
