HOSPITALITY

Lucky Lychee at The Green Man

Lucky Lychee is re-opening the historic Winchester pub, The Green Man. Serving Malaysian food alongside cask ales, world beers, cocktails, low-intervention wines and more delicious options.

The Problem

Lucky Lychee wanted to reopen the Green Man pub, Southgate Street, Winchester, in the most efficient and environmentally friendly manner. Being in an old building, there were inherited inefficiencies, such as heating and cooling systems, which proved ineffective and expensive.

James Harris from Lucky Lychee had registered with LoCASE in 2022, but the festive trade put the project on hold.

Solution and Outcome

James reached out to Beyond Procurement due to a newsletter circulated by Winchester City Council and arranged a virtual meeting to discuss the project and how to restart the application. Beyond Procurement contacted the LoCASE grant team to get the application back on track, and source suppliers to offer surveys and quotes for work. Additional support was given with calculating carbon reductions and cost savings that will be made as a result of the project. An estimated 14 tonnes of CO2e pa will be reduced, and the part-funded initiative will save around £6,000 pa.
